Course name: French – Lower Intermediate – Intermediate (A2 – B1) – Two-week, Afternoon Course

Course Content: The course is designed for lower-intermediate to intermediate students with an A2-B1 entry level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR). Grammatically, attention is paid in particular to the comparison of meaning and the use of past and future tenses, the use of the subjunctive, expressing conditionals and tense harmony. The vocabulary and topics naturally follow the grammar discussed in class and are focused on everyday life situations and on current events in the Czech Republic and French-speaking countries.

Course Objective: The aim of the course is to prepare students to achieve a B1+ level according to the CEFR. The students’ memories will be refreshed in regards to selected grammar topics necessary for communication at their level. Graduates of the course will have gained a better understanding of French media and will be better oriented in current events of francophone countries and regions. Graduates of the course will also be able to hold a conversation at the appropriate level on more complex topics and describe their past experiences in detail, as well as express their plans for the future using the correct time context and the likelihood of the plans being realized.

Grammar:

Grammar will cover comparison of meaning and the use of basic past and future tenses (passé composé, imparfait, plus-que-parfait, futur proche, futur simple), the subjunctive, past conditionals, other conditionals, indirect speech and tense harmony.

 

 

Topics:

Current life situations, interpersonal relationships, selected current themes from life in the Czech Republic and in France/other francophone countries.
