Course name: Business German (B1-B2) – Three-Week-Long Afternoon Course
Course Content: The aim of the course is to consolidate the participants’ knowledge of German, improve communication skills within and outside the business world, conduct business meetings, conduct phone calls and deepen and expand competencies in business negotiations by learning how to use German independently in practice. The course is designed for students who are applying, or are intending to apply, for a job in a company where German is required, for those working in a company where German is used, or for anyone who wants to continue learning in German. The course also includes lessons with a native speaker.
Course Objective: Graduates of the course should be able to understand the main ideas of complex texts concerning both concrete and abstract topics, as well as the main points of professional discussions in their field. They should be able to participate in conversation so fluently and spontaneously as to be able to conduct a routine conversation with native speakers. Graduates should be able to express themselves clearly even when answering more complex questions, discussing various topics and defending their views. The course is intended to improve participants’ understanding of spoken and written texts.

Teaching materials: Borrowed textbooks and handouts given throughout the course.
Grammar: Relatively sophisticated passages of verbs, the indicative and subjunctive in all tenses, the passive voice, infinitive with “zu”, “particip 1,2”, declension of nouns, adjectives and pronouns, numbers, relative clauses, prepositions.
