Course Name: Russian – Intermediate (B1) – Week-long Intensive Course

Course Content: Developing communication skills through conversational topics focused on vocabulary. As the course progresses, communicative skills are developed by taking on conversational topics that involve more advanced vocabulary. The course will be supplemented by reading simple and adapted texts and working with texts, listening exercises and watching TV and videos. Teaching will be tailored to the level and interests of students.

Course Objective: Participants will be able to understand formal speech. They will be able to deal with most situations that may arise while using a foreign language. They will be able to converse with a certain degree of fluency and spontaneity, allowing them to have everyday conversations with native speakers.

Minimum Entry Level: The course is intended for students and all those with an interest in Russian, in companies and from among the general public, who have reached an A2/B1 level in Russian. The course can be taken as a preparation course for the maturita examination in Russian.

Grammar: Verb conjugation. Use of ordinal and cardinal numbers. Verbs: past tense; movement verbs. Declension of question words, nouns, adjectives.

Topics: School – Studying. At school. Time expressions (times of day, days, months, dates). Past tense.

Learning, tasks, preparation for learning. Describing a school building.The system of education here and in Russia.

Travel, public transport. How will I get there? Orientation in the city, Prague, metro, describing streets.

In a shopping center. Shops in the city, assortment of goods. The influence of advertising, product brochures, different ways to shop. Role-play conversations: “In a shop”.
